February 21, 2010

Race 5 was held on Sunday February
21st at Lakecity R/C Speedway. Nine
racers signed in with a tight battle in the
points on the line.
Antonio DeNino captured his first TQ
of the season. This would put the points
lead up to 5 points over Southern racer Al
Smith Jr.
In the B-Main Mark Garrow would steal
the show as second place runner Leroy
Smith would battle the dreaded traction
roll. Curtis Gough would finish third and
Jason Scott rounded out the field. Garrow
would receive the bump up to the main.
With a five point lead going into the
A-main Antonio DeNino knew all he
would have to do is stay clean and keep
Al Smith Jr behind him. On the start
DeNino would get the whole shot with
Marc LaPan hot on his heels. Al Smith Jr
and Al Smith Sr would get into a on track
scuffle with Smith Jr getting the short
end of the shaft. Smith Jr would not
recover and finish in the fifth spot.
DeNino went on to win. LaPan would
finish second with Smith Sr would round
out the top three. Mark Garrow would
come from sixth to finish in the fourth
spot. Smith Jr and Donald Regimbal
would round out the field.
With just one race remaining for the
COT's Antonio DeNino has an 11 point
lead over Al Smith Jr. All DeNino needs
to do is start a main on March 21st and he
will be the inaugural North vs South COT
champion. Only 16 points separate 2nd
through 6th. March 21st will be the last
race for the COT's this season. Racing
will be starting at 12pm on the newly
configured Racing City Hobbies Raceway
in South Glens Falls, New York

Race 5 of the North vs South 13.5
Tour was held Saturday at the Jeff
Sears Memorial Race. 21 cars signed
in for the race. Chris Walsh came in
as the points leader by 11 points over
Tom Hargrave and Clayton Smith.
       In qualifying it was Wade
Bisonette taking the honors as being
the fastest guy of the day.
In the D-Main it was Steve Stone
and Josh Webb battling for the win.
On the last lap it was Stone powering
his way by Webb for the win. In the
C-Main it was Mike McDermott
holding off Phil Chasteney for the win
by .092 seconds.
In the B-Main the winner would
bump up to the A-Main. The B was a
good race with multiple lead changes
and paint being swapped. In the end
it was Steve Murray beating out Dick
Jarvis for the spot in the A.
The A-main was the best race of
the day. On the start Chris Walsh
showed some muscle catching Wade
Bisonette which would cause a pile
up when the field checked up. John
Hauenstein would be the unfortunate
victim ending his race early. Bisonette
would go on to win followed by TJ
Towne, Steve Murray, Chris Walsh,
and Kenny Roberts.
       With his fourth place finish
Walsh wrapped up this inaugural
championship for the North vs South
13.5 Tour. Awards will be handed out
Sunday March 21st following race 6.
Racing starts at 1pm at Racing City
Hobbies.
